BoSS Christmas Carol

BoSS Christmas Carol

By Daniel Mareng Wek

The Bank of South Sudan celebrated a joyful Christmas Carol on Monday 16th December 2024, hosted by the Bank’s Christian Fellowship under the theme from Matthew 2:11.

“And when they came into the house, they saw the young child with Mary, His mother. And they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

The event was attended by Hon. Governor Johnny Ohisa Damian, 2nd Deputy Governor, Hon. Gan Samuel Bwogo, Directors General and staff, along with invited Choirs and Pastors.

In an opening remark the Deputy Governor urged the faithful to always put God first in their actions and decisions, acknowledging that all leadership is established by God. “I encourage staff to pray for guidance in all their endeavors,” she added.

Meanwhile, Hon. Governor praised the Christian Fellowship for promoting faith and unity among believers and encouraged the staff to celebrate with their families while also supporting the less fortunate. “I am impressed, and I do appreciate the Fellowship for its growth, and I thank the staff for the warm reception,” he said.

Pastor Abraham Maker of All Saints Cathedral led the prayers, emphasizing the significance of giving. He reminded the faithful that God’s generosity is reflected this season in the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who brought salvation and died on the cross for humanity’s forgiveness.

The Rev Pastor gave an example of Mary the mother of Jesus who gave not only herself but risked her reputation in honour of the Lord God. The Pastor challenged the congregation what would they give God in return?

“Christmas is a season of giving; God did not spare his Son our Lord Jesus Christ who came to this world to save humanity. Christmas is the time of unity, love and forgiveness.” Who are you holding in your heart today? Since God forgave us in Christ, we should also forgive those who hurt or wronged us.”

Founded in 2012, the Christian Fellowship unites members from various Christian denominations to promote faith, unity, and community outreach.

In addition to providing spiritual support, the Fellowship is actively involved in supporting local communities through visits to prisons, orphanages, and hospitals, as well as organizing festive events like Christmas and Easter celebrations.
