BoSS, World Bank Assess 3SF Project Progress

Juba, 16 September 2025– The Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), in collaboration with a visiting World Bank team, held a critical review meeting on the progress of the implementation of the Strengthening South Sudan Financial Sector (3SF) project.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, Governor of the Bank of South Sudan gave a detailed briefing on the latest developments regarding the National Payment System.
Dr. Othow reiterated the inclusiveness of the system, saying it would bring in the private sector, the public, and government institutions. He also called for the World Bank to support the initiative.

During the briefing, 3SF Project Coordinator, Atem Bul highlighted major achievements, including the operationalization of the Banking and Finance Institute, capacity building, development of banking infrastructure policies and frameworks, among other significant strides in the financial sector.
Reacting to the presentations, the World Bank Group Country Manager for South Sudan, Charles Undeland assured the BoSS of ongoing support and commended the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan and his management for the positive direction of the 3SF project.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders including First Deputy Governor, Hon. Samuel Yanga Mikaya, Second Deputy Governor Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon, Director General of Banking Operations Dr. Chan Andrea Chan, and 3SF project consultants.
