By: Daniel Mareng Wek Magok

Accra, Ghana– The Ghana Cedi 60th Anniversary International Currency Conference has concluded in Accra, bringing together representatives from more than 40 African central banks, global financial leaders, and major currency institutions to discuss the continent’s economic and monetary landscape.

The Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) delegation, led by the Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon, participated in high-level sessions focused on currency policy, cash circulation, and effective monetary management.

Ghana’s President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, who addressed the session, stressed the need for deeper cooperation among African central banks, reduced operational costs, and stronger, more resilient financial systems particularly in the face of rising cybersecurity threats and rapid growth in digital payments.

For South Sudan, the conference offered a valuable platform for expanding technical cooperation and building partnerships with established African central banks and international currency institutions.
