Parliament Approves Deputy Bank Governor

The National Legislative Assembly approved the appointment of Odera Innocent Ochan as the new Deputy Governor of the Bank of South Sudan [BOSS]. President Salva Kiir issued a Republican decree a couple of Week ago appointing Mr. Oderra Innocent Ochan as South Sudan second Deputy’s Bank Governor

replacing Mr. Jamal Abdalla Wani after his term expired. According to the Transitional Constitution 2011, provides that inter alia under the article 182 [7] read together with section 15 [3] of the Bank of South Sudan Act, 2011, that, the President shall appoint the Deputy Governor and the same shall be approved by the a two-majority of the members of the National Legislative Assembly present and voting. President Salva Kiir wrote to parliament Speaker on 27th 2014 requesting the house to urgently approve the newly appointed deputy governor. “I write to you graciously and with compliment in relation to the above mentioned subject in which I have appointed a person befitting the position of the Deputy of South Sudan Bank,” he said in the letter. Mr. Odera Innocent Ochan is a Banker with over 10 years banking, financial, management, and private sector development experience acquired within financial services industries. He holds a M.Sc. degree in international banking from Loborough University UK, 1998 and B.Sc. [Honours] in economic and rural Development, majored in accounting from University of Gezira, Sudan, 1986
