Bank of South Sudan New Governor Hon. Dier Tong and his first Deputy Hon. Albino Dak have today taken oath of office, following their swearing in ceremony at the state house.
The two highest officials of this institution received a rapturous welcome upon arrival to the bank’s premises. The duo jumped over a bull slaughtered at the main entrance of the bank as a tradition of assuming new responsibilities and roles within the institution.
In a short meeting in his office, the Governor said that the “country faces huge challenges in terms of the economy, and the little resources available cannot fully address these huge challenges.” This means, “We have to work even harder and together.”
The Governor said this is a new page in the history and story of this institution after some achievement have been realized. “Let us pick up from here and move on, let us forget the past, and focus towards the future.” “Let us transform this bank as senior management together everyone on board.”
The first Deputy Governor thanked the staff for the warm reception accorded to them and said, “Let us work together, and cooperate to take the bank to the next level.” “We are not yet a central bank, each and every one of us has a role to play to transform this institution.”
Deputy Governor Odera Innocent Ochan thanked the new Governor and his first Deputy for winning the trust of the President on their appointments. “When I heard about the removal of the former Governor, I felt a bit restless because I never knew who would be the replacement?” But I was happy because the duo is part and parcel of this institution, he said. “We shall work hard to ensure price stability,” “Team work is very important, so maintain that.”
The former Governor Othom Rago Ajak was removed by a presidential decree after serving one year in office.
