Trade Minister, BoSS Governor Urge Traders to Deposit Money in Commercial Banks

Juba, 4th November 2025- The Governor of Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), Dr. Addis Ababa Othow Akongdit, and the National Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang Juuk, held a high-level meeting at the BoSS headquarters in Juba to strengthen cooperation on price stabilization and private sector reforms measures.

The discussion focused on aligning institutional policies to maintain price stability and encourage traders to bank their money rather than keeping large amounts in cash outside the banking system.Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Atong urged traders across the country to deposit their money in banks, stressing that the banking system remains the safest and most secure place for business funds.

She also briefed the Central Bank leadership on her recent visit to Türkiye, noting that some investors/ banks had expressed interest in establishing banking operations in South Sudan.

Dr. Othow described the meeting as crucial in enhancing collaboration between the two institutions, reaffirming their joint commitment to stabilizing prices and strengthening public confidence in the banking sector.

Both officials emphasized that coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Trade and the Central Bank are essential to restoring trust, promoting financial discipline, and ensuring long-term banking stability in South Sudan.
