Governor Addis Ababa Vows to Strengthen Staff-Centered Leadership, Sound Monetary Policy

Juba, July 31, 2026– -Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), Hon. Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, has pledged to prioritize staff welfare alongside the implementation of sound monetary and banking policies to strengthen the institution and support the country’s economic growth. He made the remarks while addressing staff at the Bank’s headquarters in Juba.
“Let us renew our spirit of teamwork by embracing the Bank of South Sudan’s core values of transparency, accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and excellence,” Governor Othow said.
He also expressed concern over the unauthorized sharing of sensitive institutional information on social media, urging officials to uphold professionalism and confidentiality.
“It is not right to discriminate against staff, and I am committed to addressing legitimate staff grievances,” Governor Othow added.
For his part, the Chairperson of the Bank of South Sudan Workers’ Trade Union, William Madut Akol, highlighted several concerns affecting employees and appealed to the Bank’s management to address key issues, including the payment of arrears, staff capacity building, and improved working conditions.
Responding to the staff’s concerns, Dr. Othow acknowledged the critical role employees play in the institution’s success and emphasized the importance of collaboration as South Sudan continues its economic reform agenda.
“I have been appointed as your team leader to provide strategic direction, and together we will achieve the principal mandate of this great institution, which is maintaining price stability,” he said.
The Governor encouraged staff to reject division and work with a shared sense of purpose, describing the Bank as one family committed to national service. He also urged employees to use established internal communication channels to resolve concerns.
“Politics will not be tolerated in the Bank,” Dr. Othow said. “The concerns raised by staff are legitimate, and the top management recognizes their rights. We are committed to correcting any mistakes that may have led to misunderstandings between staff and management. We do not have groups; we are all loyal to this institution.”
The Governor further acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors, saying they had laid a strong foundation for the institution’s continued development.
During the event, the First Deputy Governor for Policy and Banking, Hon. Tong Akec Deng, and the Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Hon. Weituy Luony Babuoth, delivered welcoming remarks. Both officials congratulated Dr. Addis Ababa on his reappointment and expressed confidence that his experience in the banking sector would strengthen the Bank’s leadership and advance its institutional and economic objectives.
