BoSS Hosts IFRS 9 Stakeholders Engagement Forum

By: Daniel Mareng Wek Magok

Juba, February 26, 2026–Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), in collaboration with a consultant team from the World Bank-funded Strengthening South Sudan’s Financial Sector (3SF) Project, on Thursday kicked off a two-day IFRS 9 (International Financial Reporting Standard 9) Stakeholder Engagement Forum in Juba.

IFRS 9 is an international accounting standard that guides how banks and other financial institutions classify, measure, and account for financial instruments, particularly loans, investments, and credit risk. The adoption of IFRS 9 in South Sudan’s financial sector is expected to enhance transparency and reliability in financial reporting.

Speaking during the opening session, BoSS Director General for Supervision and Regulations, Dr. Majok Kuol Mading, said the forum aims to foster collaboration among key stakeholders and ensure the coordinated implementation of the new reporting standard across the financial sector. The forum is attended by representatives from commercial banks, forex bureaus, insurance companies, and other key stakeholders in the financial sector.
