BoSS Senior Management Concludes Inspection of SSIBF Campus Construction in Wau

Wau, September 18, 2026- – Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Hon. Weituy Luony Babuoth, accompanied by Director General for Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Majok Kuol Mading has concluded a visit to Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, where they inspected the ongoing construction of the South Sudan Institute of Banking and Finance (SSIBF) and held engagements with state authorities and BoSS Wau Branch.
Upon arrival at Wau Airport, the officials were received by BoSS Wau Branch officials and State Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Josephine Mario.
The BoSS officials later met with Western Bahr el Ghazal State Deputy Governor Achom Edward and State Minister of Finance and Planning Hon. Josephine Mario to discuss the purpose of the visit, developments in the financial sector and areas of cooperation between BoSS and the state government.
State officials commended BoSS for extending its services to Western Bahr el Ghazal and raised concerns over liquidity challenges affecting the flow of financial resources in the state.
Responding to the concerns, Hon. Babuoth said BoSS management, under Governor Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, remains committed to working with state authorities to address liquidity challenges.
He added that a high-level ministerial Economic Reforms Committee established by the President is working to address monetary and economic issues, including liquidity concerns.
The BoSS officials then inspected the ongoing construction of the SSIBF campus in Wau, which is being developed to strengthen professional capacity in banking and finance through education, training, research and consultancy.
The 26,188.89-square-metre campus is being constructed by GS Group Construction Company and is expected to be completed before the end of 2027. The facility will include administration offices, classrooms, a library, male and female dormitories, a restaurant, dining and laundry facilities, staff residences, a generator room, a multipurpose hall and sports facilities for football, basketball, volleyball and tennis.
During the inspection, the officials held discussions with project engineers on the current construction status, progress achieved and challenges affecting implementation.
The inspection was attended by Western Bahr el Ghazal State Minister of Finance and Planning Hon. Josephine Mario, BoSS Director General of Administration and Human Resources Dr. Majok Kuol Mading, Wau Branch Manager Mabior Achaung, SSIBF Principal John Richard Ukello and GS Group engineers.
The SSIBF campus is supported under the Strengthening South Sudan’s Financial Sector (3SF) Project, implemented by BoSS with financing from the World Bank’s International Development Association.
Concluding the visit, the BoSS senior management met with Wau Branch staff to discuss administrative matters, branch operations and staff welfare.
Staff representatives raised concerns relating to insurance, capacity building, mobility, pending arrears and work equipment.
Hon. Babuoth commended the staff for their professionalism and reaffirmed top management’s commitment to staff welfare and effective monetary and banking operations.
Director General for Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Majok Kuol Mading, acknowledged the concerns raised by staff and reaffirmed management’s commitment to addressing staff welfare and working conditions.
Wau Branch Manager Mabior Achaung reaffirmed the commitment of branch staff to supporting the Bank’s mandate and upholding its core values of transparency, accountability, teamwork, excellence and professionalism.
