Central Bank, Regional Experts Discuss Cross-Border Payment System

Juba, May 19, 2026- –Governor of the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), Hon. Johnny Ohisa Damian and the Special Advisor to the Financial Sector Deepening (FSD), Professor Njuguna Ndung’u, on Tuesday discussed the implementation of a cross-border payment system among member states of the East African Community aimed at boosting financial inclusion and digital banking integration across the region.

The officials explored opportunities for collaboration, including technical support and alignment with regional financial integration initiatives. 

Governor Ohisa welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the commitment of the Bank of South Sudan to supporting regional financial integration and modern payment solutions.

Professor Ndung’u said the initiative seeks to help central banks within the region establish efficient cross-border payment systems while strengthening domestic financial transactions at the micro level.
