Government Delegation Returns from Spring Meetings

Juba, 4th May 2025-A high-level Government delegation led by the National Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, and the Governor of Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Johnny Ohisa Damian, returned to Juba on Sunday after participating in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings held in Washington, D.C.

Upon arrival at Juba International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Rita Nyankiir Akoon, the First Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance, Arop Nuoi, and senior officials from both institutions.

While in the United States, the officials represented South Sudan during the Spring Meetings and engaged in a series of sideline discussions with representatives from various countries.

Governor Damian also held talks with Türkiye’s Central Bank Governor, Hon. Fatih Karahan. Their discussions focused on digital payments and deepening cooperation.

They also met with President for Development Finance at the World Bank Group, along with the World Bank Country Team for South Sudan. The discussions highlighted sectoral engagement and performance monitoring of critical development projects, with emphasis on agriculture, health, education, water resources, transport, and public financial management.

Additionally, the delegation conducted a series of sideline meetings with strategic development partners, as well as Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors from the East African Community.
