Governor Addis Ababa Directs Close Monitoring of Tax Collection and Revenue Remittance

Juba, 3 August 2026- -Governor, Bank of South Sudan (BoSS), Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, on Monday held a constructive meeting with the Managing Directors of commercial banks designated by the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) as tax collection banks to review the implementation of the recently issued Circular on the collection and remittance of tax revenues.
They reviewed the operational arrangements for implementing the Circular issued by the Bank of South Sudan pursuant to SSRA Circular No. 2026/07/01 of 31 July 2026 and the decision of the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform.
During the meeting, Governor Othow emphasized the importance of full and strict compliance by all designated tax collection banks with the new regulatory requirements governing the collection of taxes exclusively in physical cash and the timely remittance of all tax revenues to the designated SSRA Block Accounts maintained at the Bank of South Sudan.
The Governor further directed the Directorate of Supervision and Regulation to establish dedicated inspection teams and assign desk officers to closely monitor the implementation of the Circular, verify compliance by all designated tax collection banks, and recommend appropriate regulatory, financial, and administrative enforcement measures against any institution found to be in breach of the Circular or related directives.
The Managing Directors of the commercial banks reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the Circular and to work closely with the Bank of South Sudan, the South Sudan Revenue Authority, and the Ministry of Finance and Planning to ensure the effective collection, safeguarding, and timely remittance of Government tax revenues.
Dr. Othow reaffirmed the Bank of South Sudan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Government revenues, strengthening transparency and accountability in public financial management, preserving the integrity of the banking system, and supporting the Government’s ongoing economic reform agenda.
